Star crumbs

Never have I thought to walk the same path as your dreadful fate, but alas, destiny was cruel to those who desire to wonder far.

Frankly, I had played a part; languid panic disguised as purposeful motion, jumping from one bulldozer to the next; until all roads were paved and pampered, and the lone path more jarring than before – a river that screams of flood and destruction, its echo so horrific that one is forced to entertain its cries, to drain the soul out into the deep blue ocean – not because it had earned its right to the gates of Atlantis, but because of its birth right to do so.

And thus the reawakening of such right was sour, had I not proved that the glory of my existence an awful mistake?

Had I not burned my repository of treasure maps and enchanted compasses in spite of my lineage blooming with greed and envy?

As it turned out, I am no different than you.

Wherever journey you plagued shall be mine to suffer; wherever place you conquered shall be mine to oppress.

In return, you shall accept my delayed response to your proposal, as it had left no wound uncut and no tears unsalted.

At the very least, lend me some mercy to the blinding pain as I crush the angles of the star crumbs you left behind, and follow your path down the wedding aisle.
