Review: Snow White

To start, the movie clarified within the first 30 seconds that Snow White got her name from being born during a winter storm.

That’s how scared they were of the anticipated remarks they would receive right after the trailer was released, yet that did not stop the critics from dissing it anyway.

The plot was too hesitant to go anywhere, so we ended up with Part 1 for die-hard fairytale lovers and Part 2 to satisfy the critics, maybe?

Neither delivered its intended outcome, because there wasn’t much thought given to expanding the story Or developing the characters.

Contrary to what everyone else says, I believe the Evil Queen is the one who was miscast.

Sure, the assignment wasn't clear, but all the credit should go to Snow White then, who had to carry the movie on her own—especially in the scene where she worked, danced, and sang with the dwarfs who weren't even real!

Even the parents were acting well, but if the story is meant to convey that beauty isn't the point, maybe it could work.

The criticism revolves around the fact that the queen is too beautiful, and that they should have switched roles. It’s upsetting to hear that beauty, not talent, is seen as what makes movies sell.

In this case, the main reason the movie failed isn't because of the weak plot, but rather because people's perceptions of what’s considered "ugly" or "beautiful" made them dismiss the film before giving it a chance.

That’s not a fair comparison to make with other live-action movies.

My unpopular opinion is that Beauty and the Beast was worse, due to the poor singing and acting.

Can we watch movies and judge them based on acting and delivery, rather than superficial qualities or what is deemed “fit” or “appealing” to you?

From the moment the cast was confirmed, it was crystal clear they were taking on a different approach.

Or was that too shocking to accept? I’m worried that we can’t view situations objectively, though that’s a human trait we can at least try to overcome.

The movie was bad, but it definitely wasn’t bad because of the main actress.

There were too many missed opportunities: the bandits, the dwarfs, the poisoned apple, the glass dagger (?), all the guards that Snow White remembers the names of for no reason, the father (?), the mines, the dungeons, the famine and suffering in the village (?), the apple farm (?), even the huntsman.

I’m not in favor of the queen, her scenes were too draggy, and they need to admit that they could have casted someone better who have good stage presence.

In short, it was a huge waste of budget, which still needs to be spent anyway, so why not commit to something, at this point, anything, and stick to it?
