The Best Pen

In search for the best, one must navigate the seas of consumer preferences to reach the shores of enlightenment. The struggle can be caused by many reasons, do the ships sink because of the wind, the rain, or the vessel itself?

It is a reflex to push the blame as far away as the sea can carry, because admitting that we are imperfect therefore imperfections have to be tolerated is intolerable.

There are pens that will never learn to write and scribble, because the tip is too blunt, or the ink is too shallow. It’s not built to be a proper pen, and it’s better off being replaced anyway. Let me draw the baseline for a great pen as follows:

  • Clickable
  • Has a clip
  • 0.5mm tip
  • Black, smooth ink
  • Instant dry gel
  • Multi-colored casing (any color to suggest the pen ink is not black)
  • Firm grip of casing (the entire casing should be firm to hold, quit adding rubber that slips and slides and do the opposite of what it’s supposed to do)

I found a pink pen with black ink and has all the traits of a great pen. It comes in purple too. I’m going to do great things with it, such as writing this story because where else am I going to use a pen these days?

Typing makes me appreciate penmanship more, the calligraphy and permanence to words and art. This is a tribute to the great pens that will someday vanish from the face of Earth, and a tribute to the quality of our imperfections.
