RWC 15 - Acceptance

Let’s talk about acceptance on a personal level.

Having to admit that you’re wrong about who you are as a human being, knowing that you’re not what you thought you were can be a tough call for anyone.

Recently, I watched Wonder Woman 1984.

Putting the critics and ratings aside, the storyline was quite simple and direct, tying everything together with one important lesson.

'Nothing good is born from lies'

Diana’s character has a pretty weak plot point.

It largely depends on her lover’s help to carry Her part of the story forward, and I guess whoever’s writing it can’t seem to let go of the past by having the need to write a male sidekick alongside Wonder Woman:/

And then there’s me while watching this movie, praying “Please don’t bring him up! Please stop bringing him up!!” doesn’t seem to do the trick.

However, disappointing as the main spectacle is, Barbara on the other hand showed the lesson well.

She wanted to be someone she’s not. In other words, she doesn’t accept that she’s a boring and mediocre person at all, when in fact she kind of is to the general society

Same goes to Maxwell. He wanted to be a god, when in truth he is to the general society, a “pretty messed up, loser guy”, as he truthfully admitted in the end.

I’m pretty sure Barbara is not boring, and Max isn’t a failure too.

You should know your worth and who you are. And if you don’t, look to the general society and they’ll likely have an opinion or two about you.

The scariest part is not accepting yourself, especially your flaws.

Sometimes, you cannot have it all.

Truth hurts. I know.

No one wants to admit that at some point in their lives, or maybe for the rest of their lives, they will never be perfect. I’m all for changing and trying hard to become a better you.

The first step, ironically, is to accept your present self.

Accept the truth.
