Have you ever wondered why some people choose to wear full black?
Three things pop into my mind. They have a super cool personality. They’re trying to hide their flaws. Or they’re just in a bad mood.
I live in an Asian household. If I ever wear head-to-toe black, my parents will never let me leave the house.
“Why would you want to dress as if you’re attending a funeral?”
Yup. Why?
I was curious. So guess what? I added a couple of dark shades to get myself ready for this experiment.
I’ve been wearing black most of the time now for 3 months. So far, I couldn’t bring myself to stop wearing this color! It has the effect of radiating glamour and class with minimum work done and suitable for every occasion.
So, let’s start at the beginning!
Clothing selection becomes super easy when you narrowed it down to one important detail. The brand and size category are too wide. Try ‘color black’. Or ‘only cotton material’. Lock that detail into your brain before hitting the shops. It saves a lot of time and money when you know what you’re looking for.
Okay, back to black.
It’s a color that can be creative without looking overdressed. It’s like adding collar frills to one black and one yellow blouse. One will still look put together, perfect for functions, while the other might look like a mini explosion.
First, frills or no frills, the clothes you choose should fit you.
It’s pretty obvious when the cutting is not right if you’re wearing full black. Although it’ll definitely make you look slimmer, having fabric lumps (too tight) or extra areas of fabric (too loose) may create the opposite effect.
Wearing full black is the perfect opportunity to throw in one or two accessories that you want to highlight.
Red shoes, golden bracelets, silver hairband.
It’s like a powerful surprise element that draws the attention back to the mysterious black outfit, thus less boring.
Material is important, I know.
I’m no fabric expert, but the fabrics I prefer would be wool, cotton and rayon. These look and feel super comfortable. However, if you’re the ones who live for the aesthetics (high five!), or both, it really depends.
Some clothes have metal ware.
Zippers, buttons or metal ends strings on jackets are the kind of metals that can be found and should be matched to the whole outfit to make it look perfect.
If you’re planning on wearing that golden earlobes, then try matching it with clothes that have similar metal ware, like a black blouse with golden buttons.
I had so much fun trying on black outfits.
At first, I was really scared to walk out wearing black, but now the excitement had died down and it’d become a normal everyday wear.
I guess it requires a certain mood to be able to enjoy wearing the color, if not it’ll be a burden and a harmful task for your mind to put on black in the long run.
